A humane approach to better pork
Humane and respectful handling of our animals is a moral obligation we take to heart. To ensure the humane handling of our animals, we only work with the best family farms to produce pork of a higher quality. This involves maintaining close relationships and monitoring operations to verify certain interventions and animal-handling standards are being met.
To meet these standards, we base our policies on the American Meat Institute's (AMI) animal welfare and handling guidelines at our processing facility and keep trained animal-handling specialists at every processing facility. These practices help reduce animal stress while delivering pork that's consistently more tender and delicious.
Additionally, we've scored 100% consecutively over two years in third-party audits conducted by the Professional Animal Auditor Certification Organization (PAACO). All product used for the Good Nature® brand is 100% socially raised where the animals are allowed to interact and socialize in a spacious setting.
We put the chill on our pork
To ensure optimal food safety, pork is chilled to a safe temperature as identified by the USDA. Some processors utilize water spray systems to help achieve this product temperature. But Good Nature® pork is different. All of our pork is air-chilled, a process that uses circulated cold air in place of water spray systems to get pork to that same safe temperature zone. This state-of-the-art process positively impacts meat color and pH, attributes that play a key role in defining a superior eating experience. It's why we proudly carry the air-chilled logo directly on our packaging.
